Logbook – Day 3 by MANUE

Third day on board Noumène under the sign of softness.
Mild temperatures with water warming up, taken at 24°C this late morning.
Smooth swell and wind conditions for more enjoyable rowing.
It’s easy to live with the morale of the troops rising after 48 hours of sea sickness for some.
Today will be marked by our first sampling of sargassum (seaweed), the GPS point has been taken, the temperature and PH analyses carried out. All these scientific data are collected until the end of the expedition and will be sent to the University of Bordeaux.

Our captain alerted us on the management of energies, in particular on the consumption of electricity. We are currently analyzing the energy consuming sources: satellite telecommunication, freezer, phone charger, etc. We run the generator for 2 hours a night in addition to the solar panels that work during the day.
Concerning our water consumption, we are on an average of 200l per day, which corresponds to 1 hour of desanilization. An acceptable average considering our crew of 11 people on board.
Finally, the day was also the opportunity to test our custom-made Roxy equipment: the one-piece lycra anti-uv wetsuit and the anti-uv bob. A real success! We are really happy to be able to row with such comfortable equipment.
The funny event of the day was certainly the unexpected encounters with flying fish for Itzi and Alex.
Tomorrow a big day for one of the crew, I won’t tell you more.
Love to you all from the Pacific,

Manue – Waterwomen
